Murals over the last few decades have been used in cities to revive and bring some beauty and art to huge, at times forgotten walls. It’s a strategy to add some color and art to areas that are blighted, prone to tagging, and in need of a public art response to make the area look and feel more inviting.
I never expected to see such amazing murals in Cheyenne’s historic downtown. Cheyenne is a small town of about 65,000. Wyoming capital and most populous city. Once known as the “Magic City on the Plains”, Cheyenne was a hub of activity for cattle ranching, oil, etc. in the late 1800/the early 1900s. It’s along the Front Range of the Rockies. Great western town. But not the spot I’d expected to see the awesome artwork I did. Here are some samples.
